By AP NFL reporter Jonathan JonesIn the wake of a brutal attack by a former Eagles player on a teenage boy, Brantling has gone public with his own story of depression.
He was also a former teammate of Brantlings first wife, Jennifer, who was attacked in a motel room in Arizona in 2014.
Brantling told the Arizona Republic he was on the verge of a suicide attempt when he went public with the story.
His parents and brother also called police.
He told the newspaper that he had been living in a hotel room with Jennifer and his father, and was afraid to leave the room until he heard the phone ringing.
He described his father as a strong, quiet man who always tried to support his son.
Jennifer was a good person, Brants father told the paper.
His father told him that his son was in good spirits.
He said his son had never been violent or violent toward anyone, but had suffered from depression.
He was devastated, Branted said.
Jennifer’s family is also suing the man, including Brant, for $20 million.
Brant said he didn’t want to press charges against his father.
He has also reached out to the police.
The case is still under investigation.
